Rides E-mail

NVP hosts rides that are suitable for cyclists of almost any ability. Our routes, varying from 12 to 100 miles, are primarily along the quiet back roads of the western suburbs of Boston. We occasionally reach as far as north as New Hampshire and as far west as the Worcester hills and even the Quabbin reservoir. Light permitting, we lead short evening rides (12 to 20 miles) midweek. At weekends and holidays we have longer more challenging rides spring through fall. Some brave souls even organize weekend rides during the winter months, weather permitting.

Spring at NVP pushes off with a series of weekend conditioning rides of around 15-20 miles. As the months progress, our weekend rides extend to between 20 and 60 miles, and sometimes more. Our ride leaders usually offer a choice of rides so that there is something on offer to suit a variety of tastes—from those opting for the pain of a 65 mile ride to the top of Mt. Wachusset and back, to those who prefer a shorter ride at an easier pace.  NVP grade its rides so that riders can judge in advance what option might be right for them. Our longest ride, the NVP fall century, is held every year in September and in keeping with the NVP ideal of inclusivity, has rides from 25 to 125 miles.
